Connecting Memtime with DATEV EO Comfort

Memtime can be connected directly to DATEV EO Comfort via the DATEV Connect URL.

Depending on your server setup, some steps can be done by you, while others must be handled by your IT team or your DATEV partner.

This guide walks you through the full setup step by step.

Create a Memtime account

1. Open our website:

2. Create an account.

3. During registration, you will be asked if you want to add a Connected App. Select DATEV EO Comfort here.

4. You will then be asked to enter your DATEV Connect URL.

Find and connect the DATEV Connect URL

The DATEV Connect URL is required to connect Memtime with DATEV EO Comfort.

Case 1: DATEVasp environment

If you use the DATEV Connect interface via a DATEV ASP server, the URL is always the same:

http://localhost:58454

Case 2: Own server environment

If you are not using a DATEVasp environment and your DATEV user has the required permissions, the URL usually looks like this:

https://kanzlei:58452

You can find the URL in the DATEV desktop at:

Organization → Base software → Communication → DATEV Connect setup

If you do not have access to this view, your IT team or server administrator can provide the URL or enable the required permissions.

You can also ask your IT team to run the connection test and install Memtime for you, as described in the following steps.

Check the DATEV Connect connection (strongly recommended)

Before continuing with the setup, we strongly recommend checking the DATEV Connect connection.

Using the guide DATEV Connect connection check, your IT team can test whether the DATEV Connect interface is reachable. This helps avoid connection issues early on:

🔗 DATEV API Connection Check

📢 IMPORTANT: Please always complete this step or pass it on to your IT team before continuing with the setup.

Invite other users to your Memtime account (optional)

After connecting your Memtime account to the DATEV EO Comfort integration, you can invite other team members to your Memtime account so they can test or use Memtime with you.

This step is optional. If you want to invite additional users, you can follow this guide:

🔗 How can I invite new users to my account?

Once invited, invited users can start using Memtime once it's installed by your IT team. However, you can come back to this step later at any time.

Install Memtime

The installation depends on your DATEV environment.

DATEVasp

In DATEVasp environments, a so-called approval request often needs to be submitted to DATEV before third party software like Memtime can be installed.

More information and the request form can be found here:

🔗 DATEV Help: DATEVasp service portal: Connect third-party solution

Relevant is section 3.3 "Checking and connecting third-party solutions".

This step is handled either by your DATEV administrator or your IT team. If you are unsure, please contact the responsible person.

DATEV SmartIT

In SmartIT environments, installation is usually straightforward. SmartIT is managed directly by your firm.

If there are internal restrictions, please clarify them internally or with DATEV before proceeding.

DATEV Partner Solutions / Managed IT

If your IT is managed by a DATEV partner or an external service provider, installations may need prior approval.

Please ask your IT partner to install Memtime.

Memtime is already listed in the DATEV marketplace and approved by DATEV.

Self-managed IT

If your firm manages its own IT, you can download and install Memtime directly:

Firewalls or group policies can block the connection between Memtime and DATEV EO Comfort.

In this case, please review the following articles:

Start Memtime and authenticate with DATEV

1. Open Memtime on the server environment where it was installed.

2. Sign in with your Memtime account.

3. On first launch, you will go through a short setup.

If needed, you can follow this detailed guide: 🔗 Starting Memtime on Windows.

4. Then go to:

Memtime app → Project management → DATEV EO Comfort → Settings

Click Authenticate and sign in using your DATEV server login credentials.

Memtime is designed to automatically fill in the username for you.

After successful authentication, your DATEV entities are automatically imported into Memtime.

You can then book time to your jobs directly in the "Time tracking" tab, or check the current import settings for the DATEV EO Comfort integration in the settings section.

Note: If you are unsure about your username, you can display it in the command prompt using the command "whoami". The format usually looks like this: DOMAIN\username

Set up a DATEV user for the API connection (recommended)

Depending on how permissions are set up for each user in DATEV, it can be useful to use a central DATEV user for the API connection.

This is helpful if some DATEV users do not have the required API permissions and therefore cannot import data into Memtime.

If you have the required permissions in DATEV and Memtime, meaning administrator rights, you can set this up as follows:

🔗 Setting Up a DATEV User for Memtime

This way, it is not necessary to assign permissions to every user, since this DATEV user is used for the API access.

Once this is set up by a Memtime admin user, other Memtime users can authenticate as usual using their own credentials.
