Connecting Memtime with DATEV EO Comfort

Memtime can be connected directly to DATEV EO Comfort via the DATEV Connect Online interface. Depending on your server environment, some steps can be performed by you, while others may need to be handled by your IT team or DATEV partner. This guide walks you through the entire process step by step – from account creation to a successful connection.

1. Check Your DATEV Environment

Before starting, please clarify which environment your firm is using:

DATEVasp

In DATEVasp environments, it is often necessary to submit a verification request with DATEV to allow third-party software like Memtime to be installed.

  • More information and the application form can be found here: DATEV Help: Submit Verification Request.
  • Relevant section: 3.3 β€œOrdering (custom) third-party solutions.”
  • If in doubt, please contact your DATEV administrator or IT team.

DATEV SmartIT

Installing Memtime is generally straightforward.
SmartIT is managed directly by your firm – if there are internal restrictions, please clarify them internally or with DATEV beforehand.

DATEV Partner Solutions / Managed IT

If your IT is managed by a DATEV partner or external service provider, certain installations may require approval.
Please check in advance whether software like Memtime can be installed and if any special installation packages are required.

Self-Managed IT

If your firm manages its IT independently, you can download and install Memtime directly: memtime.com/download

2. Create a Memtime Account

To use Memtime, you first need a free trial account:

  1. Open www.memtime.com

  2. Click Try for Freein the top right corner

  3. During registration, select DATEV as the connected app.

If DATEV is not shown, you can add the connection later via the Customer Portal.

πŸ’‘ Existing Users:
Log in at memtime.com β†’ go to Connected Apps β†’ click Find More Connected Apps β†’ select DATEV EO Comfort.

3. Install Memtime

Memtime must be installed on the server environment where DATEV is running.

  • Standard Installation:
Download Memtime and run the installer: memtime.com/download
  • Silent Installation (for administrators):
A separate guide is available for IT administrators to install via command line (e.g., on terminal servers).

If using DATEVasp, ensure that the verification request has been submitted beforehand (see Section 1 above).

4. Connect DATEV with Memtime

Once Memtime is installed, and you have an account, you can connect to DATEV EO Comfort using your DATEV Connect URL.

Steps:

  1. Open your Memtime Customer Portal at memtime.com.

  2. Go to Connected Apps β†’ DATEV

  3. Click Install – you will then be prompted for your DATEV Connect URL

How to find your DATEV Connect URL:

If you have the appropriate rights, open in your DATEV workspace:Organization β†’ Base Software β†’ Communication β†’ DATEV Connect Setup

There you will find your Connect URL, which looks like:

http://localhost:58454
or
https://kanzlei:58452

If you cannot access this view, your IT or server administration can provide the URL.

πŸ’‘ Tip:
Your IT can test the connection using the β€œDATEV Connect Connection Check” guide.

5. Authenticate and Import Projects

After entering the Connect URL:

  1. Restart Memtime completely (close via system tray and reopen)

  2. In the app, go to Menu β†’ Connected Apps β†’ DATEV

  3. Click Authenticate and log in with your DATEV server credentials

  4. Enter your Windows login in the format DOMAIN\Username (e.g., firm.local\max.mustermann).

If unsure about your username, you can check it in CMD using the whoami command.

After successful login, available DATEV projects will appear in Memtime’s time tracking. They are automatically imported, and you can immediately book time entries.

6. Set Up a Service User

Depending on DATEV permissions, it may be useful to create a central service user for the API connection.
This avoids assigning individual permissions to every user.

7. Servers with Roaming Profiles & Technical Notes for IT

If you use servers with roaming profiles, please review this guide to ensure Memtime runs correctly: Server with Roaming Profiles Guide

Firewalls or group policies may block the connection between Memtime and DATEV.

We are happy to support you and your IT team during setup. Book a Setup Call here, or via email: support@memtime.com.

πŸ’‘ For Administrators:
A full overview of all relevant technical guides (user management, permissions, setup) can be found here: Administrator Guides.

8. Invite Colleagues

You can add more users via the Customer Portal:

Customer Portal β†’ User Management β†’ Invite New Users

The DATEV connection will be applied automatically – colleagues only need to authenticate with their Windows/DATEV login.
